Did A.A. Arnold make a Sequence for Take Down Manual for this model? The bore, too, remains shiny, and the rifling is sharp. A cartridge is then inserted in the breech by pressing the bullet nose against the hinged plastic loading chute in the top of the receiver and chambering the round with the finger tip until the rim engages the extractor. No, unfortunately, A.A. Arnold did not make a manual for the Model 55 single shot rifle as far as I know. Extra-order options, such as shorter or longer barrels, double-set triggers and half-octagon barrels, are known to exist. My brother and I have used the model 55 .22 since about the time they were manufactured - 1957. In 1930, solid-frame Model 55s were made available. Do not disassemble action slide lock (37) assembly from guard as lock screw (38) is 'staked' to lock pivot (39). The Winchester trademark is used with the permission and to the credit of Olin Corporation/Winchester Division. I think the safety has to be in the "SAFE" position.

To remove trigger lock (49) insert small pin into hole in lock, turn Va turn and at same time push trigger lock out from left to right. For the first few years, the Model 55 carried its own set of serial numbers; however, in 1926, around serial number 2,865, the Model 55 reverted to serial numbers within the already established Model 94 range. Replace cover in top loading port of receiver with front end first and foot of cover in groove of bolt, sliding backward until the front end of cover is flush with the receiver. If you have misplaced the owner's manual originally provided with your firearm or safe, you can -- in many cases -- can find a digital copy here. Its blowback-operated action is designed to fire from open bolt position. Probably over 40 rifles in it. Loosen stock stud screw (32) in underside of stock and lift the barrel (5) and the receiver (1) assembly out of the stock. So many memories. Thanks for posting the instruction manual, I just recently purchased this rifle, what a blast to shoot, i haven't shot in over 8yrs and put 5 out 17 rounds into a 100yd target ( not good at guessing wind deflection) at 25 and 50yds the gun is extremely accurate......not bad for a 53yr old gun......being a lefty the cartridge loading and ejection is great for for both lefty's' or righty's....after a few rounds you can reload pretty damned quick......my son loves it....perfect starting rifle and very safe.

I've been shooting my model 55 since I inherited it in 1982 when I was 12 years old. Sorry, I do not have instructions for the Model 55 levar action. But the Winchester name has also managed to cross the divide from centrefires to airguns, and I’ve been shooting the Model 55 and 55RS – two springers that are very much inspired by the Model 70. Please report as necessary and we will work through these issues. I converted a closet to a gun safe and put the mediocre guns in it. Firing from an open bolt was thought to facilitate the cooling of MG barrels, but hard to see a purpose or advantage on any SS rifle. JV, You welcome!
