You might want to ask for an amylase and lipase in your blood work. Call your doctor and make an appointment for as soon as possible. don't mess around with that - it was caught late for me and had some complications. Gave me anti inflammation tablets and said it should go In a few week. The A and E guy literally only spent 5 mins with a stethascope on my chest ribs and back and said it definitely wasnt a broken rib and likely was an inflammatory virus or pulled muscle.

I still need to keep getting these tests run every 2 months even though the transplanted pancreas lost its functionality over 3 & half yrs ago because it still gets blood flow and i need to continue to take daily immuno meds because if I stopped, my amylase and lipase would go from normal range (serum amylase 35 to 85 u/L and lipase 0 - 150 (depends on lab) to 10x to 20x higher. One of my sisters had pancreatitis last year and her pain radiated to her back but she also had nausea, weight loss from lack of appetite, etc. It kind of feels like it's right behind the bottom of the rib bone. Fast forward a good 3 to 4 week and I'm still feeling a dull pain under my left side rib (bottom) when breathing in hard or laughing etc.

I feel if the symptoms have been persistent and given your past history, a full blood work up of your FBC(full blood count), BCP(biochemical profile), CRP(standard Inflammatory market), Amylase(helps rule out  pancreatitis-please don’t think this is the cause, I’m not suggesting it is, many tests are done to often rule out causes but I do think it would be helpful) and hopefully taken a more thorough history and assessment.
